c - Professional hagiographers, such as Caradoc of Llancarfan, Lifris and others, write various saints lives, some (St. Gildas, St. Padarn, St. Cadog, St. Iltud) include mentions of Arthur and his exploits.
c - China Mechanical clock, driven by water, built in Kaifeng (China's capital city)
x - Bernard of Clairvaux. He was known as "doctor mellifluus" for the honeyed sweetness of his style. It was Bernard who got the pope to silence Abelard.
jul 03 - Battle at Hagenoorde: German emperor beats earl Egbert II.
jul 03 - Egbert II van Brunswick, Fries count, dies in battle.

x - The Norman conquest of Saracen-held Sicily provided access to Arabic manuscripts that showed a place-notated decimal system that forms the basis of modern mathematics.
x - England William Rufus renews agreement with Scots.
x - Normans complete conquest of Sicily.
x - A trading deal was made between Mahdiyah, near Tunis, and Genoa.
apr 29 - Battle at Monte Levunium: Emperor Alexius I beats Petshegenes.
jun 17 - Floris II de Vette becomes earl of Holland.
jun 17 - Dirk V, count of Holland 1061-1091, dies.

nov 13 - England Malcolm III MacDuncan, king of Scotland, dies in battle.
nov 13 - Edward Macduncan, Scot crown prince/son of Malcolm II, dies in battle.
nov 17 - Margaret, widow of Scottish king Malcolm III, dies.

oct 08 - St Mark, the Evangelist, buried in San Marcos minstery in Venice.

x - Peter the Hermit's Crusade.
spr 00 - Peasants' Crusade set out from Europe
may 00 - Before embarking on the First Crusade Count Emich von Leiningen and his army swept through their own German homeland, murdering thousands of Jews, whom they had declared "murderers of Christ." When Emich arrived in the town of Worms, the town's Roman Catholic Bishop tried to protect the Jewish population, but the Crusaders overran his palace and slaughtered some 500 people who had taken shelter there. Another 300 were killed over the next two days. The graves of the massacre victims can still be seen at the Jewish Cemetery at Worms.

jan 13 - First Crusade Raymond of Toulouse led the first contingent away from Antioch and toward Jerusalem.
jan 28 - First Crusade 1st Crusaders begins siege of Hosn-el-Akrad Syria.
feb 14 - First Crusade Raymond began the desultory siege of Arqah, near Tripoli.
mar la - First Crusade Godfrey and Robert of Flanders joined the siege of Arqah.
apr 14 - Conrad, bishop of Utrecht, stabbed to death.
may mi - First Crusade Raymond finally gave up on Arqah and all present marched to Jerusalem.
jun 05 - First Crusade Knights and their families on the First Crusade witnessed an eclipse of the moon and interpreted it as a sign from God that they would recapture Jerusalem.

jul 08 - First Crusade In Jerusalem 15,000 starving Christian soldiers marched around barefoot while the Muslim defenders mocked them from the battlements.
jul 12 - First Crusade Crusade leaders visited the Mount of Olives where they met a hermit who urged them to assault Jerusalem.
jul 13 - First Crusade The Crusaders launched their final assault on Muslims in Jerusalem and fail to take it by storm.
jul 15 - First Crusade Godfrey breached the walls of Jerusalem near Herod's Gate and soon was elected the "Defender of the Holy Sepulchre" the crusaders slaughtered the Jewish and Muslim inhabitants.

aug 12 - First Crusade At the Battle of Ascalon 1,000 Crusaders, led by Godfrey of Bouillon, routed an Egyptian relief column, the Fatimids, heading for Jerusalem.
aug 13 - Paschal II becomes Pope u.1116
