He will work on a new translation of the New Testament. The more he will study it, the more he will doubt the accuracy of the Vulgate, St. Jerome's translation into Latin, dating from around 400 . "In Praise of Folly" is his most famous work. A Humanist, Erasmus agreed with Luther's accusations against the Church, he opposed Luther's changes in doctrine.
