00 - During the Agasir crisis, French Premier Hoseph Cailloux begins secret negotiations with the Germans concurrent with Cambon's public ones.
01 - Proclamation removes "Dei Gratia" from Canada's coins.
01 - German boat Panther nears for Agadir Morocco.
05 - George J Stoney, Irish physicist, dies at 85.
17 - Overthrown shah of Persia Mohammed Ali lands on Astrabad with army.
20 - Generals Henry Wilson/Auguste Dubail sign plan for British Expeditionary army in case of war with Germany.
21 - Lloyd George warns Germany in his "Mansion House speech", stiffening German opinion towards his ideas.
24 - Hiram Bingham discovers Lost City of the Incas.
30 - Dubail-Wilson agreement signed. agrees to British mobilization following intervention, specifiying 150,000 men and 67,000 horses to be landed at Havre, Boulogne and Rouen between 4th-12th day of mobilization and be sent to Mauberge region and ready for action on 13th day
31 - Hungarian education is only taught in German.

August

13 - Churchill sends Asquith a memorandum analyzing a Euopean war in which Germany atacks France through Belgium and recommends use of British Army to aid France
14 - Haiti General Leconte appointed temporary pres of Haiti.
15 - Procter & Gamble unveils its Crisco shortening.
22 - Mona Lisa stolen from Louvre Recovered 1913.
23 - British premier Asquith holds secret meeting about British strategy in case of war with Germany. Grey, Lloyd George and Churchill present among others Gen. Henry Wilson discusses Anglo-French "plans" against German invasion of Belgium and France.
24 - Manuel d'Arriaga elected 1st president of Portugal.
