08 - The secret Hoare-Laval agreement was signed. It provided that Italy would control two-thirds of Ethiopia.
09 - The Hoare-Laval agreement became known to the public. The disparity between French government's public and private positions made a mockery of collective security.
12 - Chahar and Hopei, the Chinese provinces bordering Manchuria were declared as autonomous by Japan.
20 - |Spain ?| Francisco Largo Caballero is replaced by Indalecio Prieto as head of the Socialist Party.
22 - Anthony Eden replaced Hoare as the British Foreign Secretary.
23 - Marshal Badoglio ordered the use of dichlorodiethyl sulfide gas against Ethiopian troops in order to quicken the Italian advance.
