The League had previously banned weapons exports to both Ethiopia and Italy, conferring an
advantage on weapons producing Italy.
23 - The Battle of Tembien (near the Eritrean border) ends in a
stalemate. 8,000 Ethiopians are killed or wounded, while the Italians suffer

tons of bombs; 6,000 Ethiopian troops were killed.

forces in the Mecan Pass. They take Italian positions, but are forced to retire after
suffering heavy casualties and running out of ammunition.
